Odd Observations In West London

Below are some odd working photos in and around the West London area. Firstly SP26 is seen here taking time at Twickenham before its return journey to Staines. Route 290, as you would know by the post below, is now operated by decker routes.

Next up is 8574 serving Route H25. I was lucky enough to see this just two days after the buses had entered service on the newly won Route 117 (West Middlesex Hospital - Staines). To this day I have yet to see another 11 reg on the H25 so this can be considered as a rare shot.

Seen here in Brentford High Street is MDP 8058 serving Route 235. Its not the first time I have seen a 8.9m bus on this route, but it is not a very common working

Finally we have OT5 on the 203. Route 203 was recently retained by London United with new MCL's. I had heard word of there being one previous sighting of an OT on the 203 and was very happy when I saw this one pull into Staines bus station so I could get a snap. This buses are meant to be on Route H37 (Hounslow, Blenheim Centre - Richmond, Manor Circus)

  1. Right, just a quick word on OT buses on the route 203. As all bus enthusiasts, allready know, peak time requirement for the 203 is 6 busses. there must be always +1 as a spare. so LU, bought 7 MCL's. due to the fact that MCL7 was involved in RTC sometime last week, one MCL is kept for the type training, and 3rd bus seem to have some kind of technical problems. So as You can see - we have only 4 buses available. And because it clearly states in a contract that for that route only 12m long buses must by use - LU dont have much choice to put OT on the route not even a DLE's. but in a last week, it seem to be on daily basis that You have at least 1 or 2 OT 's running in service. and just few days ago - due to the bus shortage - You could see a DLE bus.

  2. Hi Pepsi, thanks for your detailed respone. I assume you work at Hounslow Garage?

I was unaware of MCL7 being in a RTC so that explains a lot - Any ideas what happened?

  3. Hello again! :D thats pretty good guess - I am working at Hounslow Bus Garage... and I am a 203 driver :D

MCL7 was rear ended while traveling westbound at stanwell rd/bedfont rd just before jct with A30. Car driver failed to see a bus in the N/S lane - so typical!

  4. here another odd observation on 203's. I was about to catch 203 to get to home, and guess what pulls in out of the Hounslow Bus garage - DPS672 (if I remembered right) plated as 203! I was well shocked!! Dont know the reason for that swap as MCL was sitting in the bus station forecourt... thats odd!!
