Changes to Route 290

Saturday 1st October saw Abellio London take over the 290 from London United. When Abellio first won the route there bid was with existing buses however there was a contract amendment and that saw the route bid be changed to new buses. Due to the short time span the new buses were unable to be delivered in time for the takeover date and are expected to arrive towards the beginning of the new year. A shuffle around has happened within the company with lots of vechile movements. This was to make sure that the 290 would have some temporary buses until the new buses arrived. Firstly Nimbuses 8471, HX04HTY and 8472,HX04HTZ moved from WS (Hayes) to TF (Twickenham) garage. Also, the five 2006 reg Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m/Alexander Dennis Pointers numbered 8473 - 8477 moved to TF (Twickenham) from BC (Beddington Cross) to help cover the 290. The 152 is currently using Dennis Dart/Alexander Pointers 8435, 8436, 8437, 8438 and 8440 along with its current E200's. The 152 will also gain some Dennis Dart SLF/Caetano Nimbus these being from Dawsons Rentals. The nimbuses are pencilled in to be numbered 8492, 8493 and 8494. These buses are due at BC (Beddington Cross) to cover for 8473 - 8477. These nimbuses will ultimatley be used on Route 455 when it commences in March 2012

You might think thats the end, but your wrong! There are still 5 outstanding Dawsons darts to arrive, those being 8495, 8496, 8497, 8498 and 8499. These are expected to arrive at the end of this month and will go to TF (Twickenham) for the 290. When these buses arrive there will be another shuffle about. This will see the 2006 reg buses return to the 152 and the new arrivals replace them and commence service on the 290! A lot of information to process there, but hopefully you can makes sense of it all!

This information is subject to changes but should be treated as correct unless changes are made.

  1. Just out of interest, 8492/3/4 have powerblinds which displays Beddington routes and destinations. Could this mean those buses are actually a permanent transfer?
